Languages Course Descriptions

**Fl 171, 172, 173, 174

one semester each, two hours per semester

A practical and introductory study of a segment of the Spanish language as it is spoken in Latin America with applications to the Christian ministry and daily living.

FL 200 A and B Elementary Greek

two semesters, four hours per semester

A beginning study of the vocabulary, forms, syntax, accent, and pronunciation of the New Testament Koine Greek with selected readings and translations from the Greek text.

**FL 221, 222 Elementary Spanish

two semesters, three hours per semester

The fundamentals of grammar in oral and written form with an introduction to the basic skills of conversation with applications to the Christian ministry.

FL 300 A and B Intermediate Greek (Same as FL 500 A and B)

(Prerequisite: FL 200 A and B)

two semesters, three hours per semester

A review and study of the grammatical forms and an emphasis upon grammar and interpretation. Selected passages of the Greek New Testament will be read and analyzed with special attention given to irregular verbs, uses of participles, and infinitives.

**FL 401 Luke in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 300 A and B)

one semester, three hours

The translation and exegesis of the gospel of Luke with special emphasis upon the development of expository messages, advanced points of Greek grammar, and proper methodology for word studies.

**FL 402 Peter and James in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 300 A and B)

one semester, three hours

The translation and exegesis of the epistles of Peter and James with special emphasis upon the development of expository messages, advanced points of Greek grammar, and the proper methodology for word studies.

**FL 403 II Corinthians in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 300 A and B)

one semester, three hours

The translation and exegesis of Paul’s second epistle to the Corinthians with special emphasis upon the development of expository messages, advanced points of Greek grammar, and the proper methodology for word studies.

**FL 405 Romans in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 300 A and B)

one semester, three hours

The translation and exegesis of Romans with special emphasis upon the development of expository messages from the book with advanced emphases in Greek grammar and the proper methodology for word studies.

*FL 411, 412 Elementary Hebrew (Same as FL 511, 512)

two semesters, four hours per semester

A beginning course in biblical Hebrew including the fundamentals of grammar and syntax and some translation work in the Hebrew Old Testament.
