Missions Emphasis

The Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Christian Service with an emphasis in missions is a four-year 133-hour program. It includes the following minimums:

Bible and Theology, 40 hours
General Education, 46 hours
Christian Service Core, 13 hours
Christian Service Methods, 27 hours including 21 hours of core missions courses
General Electives, 7 hours

Women students will substitute 4 credits of methods courses in lieu of homiletics.

Mission

The department of missions is designed to challenge and equip students to carry out the Great Commission. Great emphasis is placed on establishing local, independent Baptist churches at home and abroad.

Purposes

The purposes of the missions program at International Baptist College are the following:

  1. To reveal spiritual needs worldwide.
  2. To inculcate teaching on the primacy of the local church.
  3. To contrast teaching of biblical Christianity with world religions.
  4. To develop a burden for home and foreign missions.
  5. To challenge laborers for the harvest field.

Aims

The aims of the missions program, as shown below, are intended to help International Baptist College achieve its above stated mission and purposes. Therefore, the students will

  1. develop a practical understanding of missions through mission survey trips,
  2. interact with missionaries via the classroom,
  3. observe and participate in local church missions, especially the annual Missions Conference at Tri-City Baptist Church,
  4. learn in the classroom setting from active directors of mission boards and others experienced in missions, and
  5. explore the practical aspects of missions such as deputation, mission boards, and supporting churches.
