Thank you to so many of you who have upheld IBC and the families of these young men in prayer. God’s grace truly is amazing as He continues to work through this situation in the lives of those impacted by this tragedy, both at IBC and the many others who are connected to Joey and Mark Merrill and Saif Savaya. Joey, a senior at IBC, is greatly loved by his fellow students for his godly example and servant spirit. Mark, Joey’s younger brother, and Saif were guests attending the Grand Canyon Hike along with many other IBC students and friends. Our hearts and prayers go out to Mr. and Mrs. Merrill and Mr. and Mrs. Savaya during this difficult time.
As reported by the National Park Service on Saturday, the body of Mark Merrill was recovered Friday by the search and rescue teams, and they continue to search for Joey and Saif.
Some have been inquiring how they might help the families in a financial way. Tri-City Baptist Church has set up a fund whereby people may contribute to help the families. People may send tax-deductible gifts to Tri-City Baptist Church designated Grand Canyon Family Assistance. All gifts will be directed to assist the Savaya and Merrill families. Information regarding this assistance fund may be located at www.tricityministries.org.
Please continue to pray for the IBC family during this time. God has given us some sweet times of prayer and fellowship as we have continued to seek His face; we desire to glorify Him through this tragedy. Especially be in prayer for the families of these young men as they deal with the events of this past week. God’s grace is sufficient in our insufficiency, and we wholly put our trust in Him.
Resting in His Grace,
