Media Center Building Progress - November 16, 2011

During the week of November 14, a team of volunteers came from Colorado to work in the International Baptist College Media Center building. Significant progress has been made, although much remains to be done before IBC can use the building, hopefully by graduation next spring.

Right now the interior walls are going up outlining the student conference room, the head librarian's office, and the archive room. The Colorado volunteers, who also came last year to work on the office building, did a lot of electrical work; installing wiring and data lines and placing the junction box and outlets. They also framed the check-out desk.

In the next few months the final flooring needs to be laid, the windows, doors, and ceiling installed, plumbing and lighting added, the interior needs to be painted, bookshelves placed, and, of course, all the books and other equipment will need to be moved.

IBC has received the majority of the funding but still welcomes donations to add to their collections of teacher education, music, Bible, theology, and general education materials. The Media Center should be completed and in use before graduation in May 2012. At that time IBC will be completely moved into its own buildings, having finished the office and classroom building last August.
