Are You Depressed?
May 14, 2007 - Pastor Todd Tjepkema

It has been reported that depression is the number one psychological problem in the world today. While I don’t have the time or energy to discuss all the different theories of what causes depression (take my Sunday night class), I know from experience that the vast majority of depression has a spiritual component to it.

God says that depression is a heart issue. Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression Pro. 12:25 (NKJV). And God also provided us with the cure, A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance Pro. 15:13 (NKJV). The apostle Paul, who I am sure was depressed often, knew where that cure came from, Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us 2 Cor. 7:6 (NKJV). So how does God comfort us? By providing in His word how we can have a cheerful countenance. The term "blessed" can also be translated "happy."

Blessed is ...
