Move News

8/27/2009 - Move Update

Move Almost Complete

We should have all or nearly all of the library moved this week from our old property. When that is completed, we will only have some tools and other things behind the old office building. All the buildings will be completely empty of our stuff when the library is moved.

Successful First Sunday in Chandler

We had a very exciting first service with an official count of 817 in attendance (click here to view photos), two baptisms and two salvations!

Dedication Service This Sunday

This Sunday is our official 40th Birthday Sunday. We do not have Adult Bible Fellowship/Children's Sunday School or an evening service this week. Instead we have our regular morning service at 10:30 a.m. and then a special service of "Dedication and Thanks" at 2:00 p.m. Many special guests will be coming to that afternoon service.

Work Day This Saturday

If you can come down to the church this Saturday morning for a couple of hours, it would be a tremendous help. We could really use 75 to 100 people to really get our building ready for all the visitors we will have this Sunday for our Dedication Service. We are going to be working Saturday from 7:00-10:00 a.m., primarily inside, and we have work for men, women, college students, teens, and even kids. We have some cleaning supplies, but if you have mops, rags, etc., to help us clean, please bring them. Thank you!

8/18/2009 - Moving Update

Major Projects for Wednesday

Tomorrow we need help accomplishing two major projects. We could use about 10 people to help stain doors in the gym at the new campus. Altogether there are over 200 doors, and many are left to be stained. We also need 5-10 people to help move the library at the old campus. Both projects begin at 8:00 a.m.

Momentous Last Service in Tempe

The old sanctuary was packed for Tri-City's last service in Tempe. Former members returned to share moving testimonies of the church's impact, and twenty-two new members joined the church. Five people were baptized. Pastor Mike's salvation message was succinct and effective; five people made salvation decisions. What a blessed end to Tri-City's presence in Tempe, and an exciting glimpse of what God might do through Tri-City in Chandler!

Sunday Moving/Cleaning a Huge Success

A huge thank you to everyone who has been helping with the move! Several people have been at the campus during the week to help with various tasks, and many came out on Saturday. After the service on Sunday, around 200 people helped at the old and new campuses, accomplishing nearly all of the scheduled projects. You are still welcome to come help at any time. Just check in at the volunteer table in the foyer of the new church building.

Church White Glove Thursday from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Friday is a big day for Tri-City Christian Academy with their open house. On Saturday International Baptist College will be welcoming new students and their families. We will have one last big push to get the campus cleaned up for these important days. We're calling it the Church White Glove and it will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please bring cleaning supplies with you.

8/15/2009 - Moving on Sunday

Thank you to everyone who volunteered today. We were able to get so much done. We invite you to come join us tomorrow to help get ready for the start of ministry on our new property. There will be many different projects tomorrow that will allow everyone to get involved. We will be giving more details in the service tomorrow. Below is a list of supplies that we would love for you to bring along. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow in our last service at the Tempe property. Don't forget it starts at 9:45 a.m.!

Please bring whatever you are able.

  • Buckets
  • Vinegar (to be mixed with water for cleaning)
  • Broom and dustpan
  • Wet mops - please no squeegee mops
  • Cleaning rags
  • Disinfectant cleaners like Mr. Clean or Spic and Span
  • Window cleaner
  • Gloves, if you will be doing outside work
  • Ladder or step stool
  • Gas hedge trimmer
  • Tree and bush trimming tools
  • Rakes and shovels

Note that the 101 South is closed all weekend. To get to the new campus take Dobson Road south and turn right on Germann. The church will be on the left after the CVS.

We hope to get the phones up at the new campus on Monday, but the ministry offices will be closed all week while we get set up and moved in.

8/11/2009 - We got the certificate of occupancy!

  • Pastor Mike just sent word that we have received our certificate of occupancy! Praise the Lord! This Sunday at 9:45 a.m. will be our last service in Tempe, and next Sunday at 10:30 a.m. will be our first service in Chandler. Our dedication service will be Sunday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m.

8/10/2009 - Schedule Change - All Care Groups Cancelled

  • All care and share group meetings are cancelled for next week (the week of August 16), as well as the Wednesday night Bible study, children’s choir, and youth group. Meetings will resume in the new building the week of August 23.

8/10/2009 - Ways to Help With the Move

Monday through Saturday, August 10-15

  • Every morning at 6:00 a.m. folks can meet at the church to load our truck with furniture and stuff to take it to the new property. We also need to empty the maintenance building with all the furniture stored there into the church building.
  • Every morning at 6:00 a.m. folks can show up to clean. We have so much to do in cleaning to take it from a work site to a worship/school building that it is somewhat overwhelming, but as my mom always said, "inch by inch is a cinch, but yard by yard is hard." We will take this process in inches.
  • Every evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. the new building will be open for cleaning.

Sunday, August 16

  • Morning worship is at 9:45 a.m. No Sunday School, Adult Bible Fellowships, or Evening Service.
  • From 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. we will load the rest of our furniture on a huge truck that has been donated to us for the weekend. We will also be working on the new building with cleaning and some light landscape.

Monday through Saturday, August 17-22

  • Every morning at 6:00 a.m. we will need many hands to work at the new property on the building cleaning and setting it up school and worship.
  • We may still need to be moving items from the old campus to the new and if that is the case, then we will be meeting at the Price Rd property at 6:00 a.m. every day to do that kind of moving.

8/7/2009 - How You Can Help With the Move

We are now able to move boxes and furniture into the upstairs rooms. Thanks to everyone who has been coming out every day to help move and clean!

If you want to help, every morning we are moving items to the new property, and cleaning inside the new building. Next week we also hope to be able to work in the evenings. Call Pastor Todd at 480-570-9252.

Building Progress

  • All flooring is done except for the cove base (similar to base boards) and minor carpet trimming
  • The phone switch has been installed
  • Interior doors will start being installed on Friday
  • Sprinklers are being installed
  • Plumbing and electrical work is almost done
  • Audio/visual work continues
  • Minor landscaping touch-ups are being done

7/30/2009 - Opportunities to Help With the Move

If you are available from 6:00-7:30 a.m. Friday, Monday or Tuesday, we have some small jobs that need to be done at the new property. (Throughout the week if you have time to help, just show up anytime after 6:00 a.m. and check in with Jess Chamberlain.)

Friday 7/31

  • Clean the new building (5-6 people)
  • Light trimming of trees in the front of the new property - bring tree trimming tools (5-6 people)
  • At the old property, move things out of the upstairs gym building and into our truck to move to the new property (6-7 people)

Monday 8/3

  • Clean up where the fence was and do some light trimming (5-6 people)
  • Pour cement footers for the playground equipment (5 people)
  • Move furniture from the maintenance building to the second floor of the main building (5-10 people)

Tuesday 8/4

  • Move furniture from the maintenance building to the main building (5-10 people)
  • Light cleaning (5-6 people)

7/29/2009 - Moving Out of 700 Building This Friday

Next week we are turning most of the Gym/Fellowship Hall building over to our buyer, EdOptions. They plan to start school on August 10. This Friday, July 31, we need to move boxes and furniture from the upstairs rooms to the downstairs rooms we will still occupy. If you can help, please come to the current Tempe campus (not the new Chandler campus!) at 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning. (Hard hats are not required and you can wear shorts if you want.)

Since we are moving out of this building, the Re:vive, Single Vision, and Family Living Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) classes will meet in the auditorium this Sunday and next Sunday (August 2 and 9 - there will be no ABF classes on August 16, and on August 24 we plan to be in our new building). The care groups that meet in this building will meet elsewhere on August 5 and August 12; see your care group leader for details.

Building Progress

  • There was a great turnout for Saturday's work day, and much was accomplished. The large crew of church members removed trash, swept and mopped floors, washed windows, spread rock, and moved playground equipment.
  • We had our landscaping inspection on Monday and found out that the city wants us to finish some painting and stucco before they will sign off on the landscaping. That shouldn't take long so we hope to get the landscaping approved soon.
  • The cement on the second floor is being polished; hopefully it will be done by the end of the week.
  • Several cabinets have been installed.
  • Ceiling tile installation continues.

7/23/2009 - Schedule Posted; Work Day This Saturday

We have one month left before our first Sunday in the new building, if all goes well! Click here for a detailed schedule of the events leading up to that important day. There are several changes to the way we normally do things around here over the next few weeks, so please take note! Of course things might change a little here and there but we will do our best to stick to this schedule and notify you of any changes.

This Saturday (July 25) we will be cleaning inside the new building from 6:00-9:00 a.m. in preparation for the move. Bring brooms, mops, and window cleaning equipment.

7/16/2009 - More Landscaping Help Needed Tomorrow

We had a great group out helping spread rock on Monday, but it turns out 40 tons of rock wasn't enough, so we will be spreading more tomorrow (Friday) morning. We could use 10 or 15 volunteers from 6-8 a.m. If you can help, please wear hard shoes (at least tennis shoes) and long pants. We will give you hard hats. These are OSHA safety standards and we can be fined if we don't abide by them. Thank you so much!
